Frequently asked questions

We offer free parking to all our visitors, located in our parking lot.

A camera, definitely. There are innumerable opportunities for photography and we strongly encourage taking advantage of them—photographs are one of the best ways to learn from and appreciate nature without taking from it. Flashes are acceptable (they don’t bother the animals) though exhibits generally take place outdoors.

Snacks, drinks, and ice cream will be available for purchase at our Watering Hole for this event.

Unfortunately, handicapped access is limited. We try to keep as natural an environment as possible, so much of the center contains gravel walkways and there is no paved ground; everything outside takes place on gravel and wood chips.

Dress for the weather. In sun, a hat and sunglasses are a good idea; in rain, ponchos or umbrellas are almost a necessity. Hawk Creek is an outdoor facility (there is one indoor-accessible building) and the only cover from rain or sun is provided by trees, tents, and the occasional standing umbrella. In more inclement weather, expect these spots to be crowded.

For the safety of our animals and your friends, we can not allow pets inside the Center. We ask that you keep them at home during your visit to Hawk Creek.

Service animals are permitted only in certain areas. If you have a service animal with you, please check in with a member of staff on arrival so we can ensure you get the most out of your experience!
