SECOND CHANCE

This black bear cub was confiscated in Clarence, NY by the DEC (New York State Department of Conservation).  The bear was purchased along with a cougar and a wolf in Ohio for $500.  They were placed in local facilities until they could find a suitable permanent home.  The cub was sent to Albany to raise with other black bear cubs in hopes of setting it free.

ROUGH LANDING

This immature red-tailed hawk was wedged in between a tree.   It probably was chasing something and was so focused on his prey that he didn't even notice the tree.  This is one of the few patients that I am aware of that came to the center because of natural causes.  Many people are unaware that man generally is responsible for injuries to wildlife.
