Humans
and birds of prey have gone literally hand-in-hand for thousands of
years. The ancient art of falconry had
made its way to Europe during Medieval times and gained popular
following as both a practical sport and a measure of nobility. Today we
use many of these very same techniques to bring you what is one of the oldest
and most spectacular shows on Earth. Honestly, how often
do you get to stand face-to-face with
majestic eagles or duck in your seat as a broad-winged
Harris’ hawk soars just inches overhead
in pursuit of its quarry?
For
our Twentieth Anniversary, we will explore the more
mythical territory of the wildlife of the Middle Ages: Dragons—the
legend and the reality come to life as only Hawk Creek can bring it to
you! We'll be open for two weekends in a row,
so don't hesitate... your presence alone is what keeps Hawk Creek
soaring!
Each
year, this family-friendly, Renaissance-themed event offers new and
exciting programs, flying bird shows, live medieval reenactments, and
an art auction featuring the works of more talented artists and
naturalists—both the local and the widely
acclaimed—than ever before. Feel free to explore what else we have planned for the next Festival, and
don't forget the abundance of stunning photo
opportunities we encourage you to find!
